Letter of the Week: B
Word of the Week: Believe & Verse of the Week: Acts 16:31
“And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and be saved; you & your household.”
I love the new addition to our classroom. This is our ABC Shelf. Each week I decorate it with books & toys from around the house (& library books too) to add extra creativity to our room. The kids love to check it out each day!
Tracing & Writing Skills
Learning our Verse: B is for Believe – Acts 16:31
Letter B Bears! We looked up facts about different kinds of bears & then did bear crafts.
Cut out pieces & have the kids assemble! Adding googly eyes are always fun!
Birthday Bear Cards! We had a Birthday Party to attend at the end of the week so our Birthday Bear Cards came in handy! They wrote out cards on a separate piece of paper, rolled them up and tucked them in the bears arms (You can tuck candy in there too)! I just free cut a bear pattern & then used that one to cut out the other. Cut a long strip of paper & round the ends for the arms.
We had so much fun with “Jack and the Beanstalk!!” It was fun to read the story with the kids (while they were in BEAN Bags), craft about it & then do our own BEANSTALK Science Experiment! PS: This was a perfect time to talk about stealing & why we do not steal. That Jack was a bad example!
Beanstalk Science Experiment: All you need is a jar, paper towels, water & a bean! We used green beans. Soak the paper towels in water, place them in jars, place your bean against the side & place the jars in the window. The kids loved checking on them each day!
After a few days…they sprouted!! They have grown even more since these pictures were taken.
Black Bean B’s & Counting
I used egg cartons & black beans for this counting lesson. The littlest one counted numbers 1-6 while the older one counting 7-12. After they placed the correct number of beans in the designated spots, they wrote that number on their sheet. This was helpful for counting, number recognition, tracing & writing.
All About BEES & BUGS!
Bugs: First we read about the World’s Largest Bugs, then made bug boxes & finished the lesson with a BUG HUNT in the BACKYARD!
For the Bug Boxes: I saved the containers from flavored water packets, poked holes in the lids, the kids decorated them & wa-la…a fun little bug box.
The Tower of BABEL!! We read about the Tower of Babel from our Action Bible (this is a great story bible for kids) and then did a little Babel Tower Building. The kids used scrap paper to build a tower…but left the tower unfinished, just like the real Tower of Babel.
I hope you got some fun, easy ideas from our Week of Letter B. If you have any questions or want more details about an activity, please leave a comment! Check out Manning Academy to see Letter of the Week: A, ABC Snack Guide & what a Typical Day at Manning Academy is like!
