1. Writing/Tracing Letter D: The kids started off the week with practicing writing & tracing D in their workbooks. Once they finished their page they got to stamp the Letter D all over their page (they LOVED this).

2. DONUT Activities: First, we read in Dr. Seuss’ ABC Book about Letter D. Then, we watched a video about how doughnuts are made. The kids loved seeing the process! After that we did a Donut Decorating Craft. (I prepared little paper donuts for the kids to glue on their paper. Then, they decorated the donuts with paper sprinkles & Wa-La…decorated DONUTS for fun). To top it off, I took the kids on a “Doughnut Date!!!!” They were able to pick out their own doughnuts, talk about the Letter D for DONUTS & we remembered what we learned from the video we watched.

The empty spaces represent ZERO. The kids each had a die & a cup of pompoms. We used our imaginations to pretend that the pompoms were DONUT HOLES. The kids rolled the dice to determine how many donuts they got to toss, after they tossed them we wrote down the numbers that the donuts landed on (either 0 {empty}, 1 or 2). Then we added those numbers together to get their score. We used the pompoms to help when adding so they could physically see the amount. It was a lot of FUN & my 4 1/2 year old understood the adding process!! It was great.

4. Duck Science & Craft: We read about the Life Cycle of a Duck from our Library book, discussed it together & then did a little craft for fun. The kids loved adding googly-eyes to the ducks.

4. Dino Facts & Crafts: I prepared Letter D Dinosaurs for the kids to paste together & decorate. They did this and watched a short video about Dinosaurs. Next, we read our Library books about Dinos & the kids picked out their favorite ones to share with the class. Then, we used the Answers in Genesis website (link at the bottom of the page) to learn Dino Facts! (This website is wonderful for scientific info that lines up with biblical teachings). Then the kids did Q-Tip Water Color Painting & pasted it to their Dino Facts that we learned from the website.

DSC_0107 DSC_0108 DSC_02556. DAYS of the Week: Of course…we sang our days of the week song a few extra times & then read in the Bible in Genesis about how God created a DAY and the Days of the week. Then we did a simple craft to go along with it all. I also used this activity for counting & recognizing the numbers: 7 (days in a week) & 6 (days of work) & 1 (day of rest).

DSC_0086 DSC_0087 DSC_00907. Daniel & the Lion’s DEN: My children love learning about Daniel & the incredible story of how God protected him in the lion’s den. We read this story again in our children’s bible, discussed what happened together & then did a craft to go along with it. I prepared a circle cut out to represent Daniel, lion cut outs for the lions in the den & a white paper cut out with the verse Daniel 6:22 to represent the Angel of the Lord. The kids pasted it all together & added a face to Daniel. It was fun, simple & they loved hearing about God shutting the mouths of the lions & what a miracle that was.  DSC_0100 DSC_0101 DSC_0102 DSC_0103 DSC_0104 DSC_0105Yay, for Letter D!
